Just threw on THE GODFATHER, and my favorite part is how happy everyone is during the wedding compared to Michael's miserable ass party in II.
Sonny's slinging dick. Fredo is drunk. People fear The Don. Mrs. Corelone is singing and dancing.

The Rewatchables podcast talked about this but it is hilarious how the Hollywood exec who hates Johnny Fontaine just starts insulting Tom Hagen's background. ''My Kraut-Mick'' friend kills me.
I love the hallway that Luca Brasi walks in when he is meeting with The Turk. Coppola made such a beautifully looking film, on top of perfect script and performances.
One of my favorite line readings in this is Sollozo over the phone saying ''And don't lose that famous temper of yours, huh Sonny?''
''He's still alive. They hit him with five shots and he's still alive.''
Sollozzo rules as a villain.

''It's an old Sicilian message: It means Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes.''
''I love you with all my heart, if I don't see you again soon, I'm gonna die.''
Clemenza is so great.

''Oh Paulie, you won't see him no more.''
Pacino makes such an emotional transformation in this. His eyes get darker, his face gets more structural, his body language is less athletic.
''It's not personal, Sonny. It's strictly business.''
Fell asleep.
I'm running it back from the beginning.

Fredo's drip when Michael comes visit him to shake down Moe Greene is tough.
''Just wasn't enough time, Michael. Just wasn't enough time.''
There is no answer to the greatest scene in cinema history, but the “baptism scene” in The Godfather is the greatest scene in cinema history.
“I do renounce him.”
“Tell Mike it was only business. I always liked him.”
“Tom, can you get me off the hook? For old time’s sake?”
“Can’t do it, Sally.”

Still a masterpiece. Michael and the Don talking in the garden about how he wishes that Mike didn’t have to join the family business makes me emotional. Still a beautiful movie, I think that part of it is underrated. It is colorful in the first hour - darker the rest of the way.
