My Head of Programme (HoP) told me he wanted to see my mother and I. I was dead worried cause I knew this was about my study plan because clearly my diploma has been dragging for almost 4 years now since I'm juggling with college and my illness at the same time.
My mom was so close to crying bro, my heart almost broke. So we met with my HoP and he told me he discussed with the exam board about me in particular and tried his best to back me up but the exam board wasn't having it. They wanted more supporting documents from me.
So we talked things out, settled on my enrollment for the upcoming semester. And then HoP asked me a VERY important question.
"What do you want to do with this diploma since you don't want to cont your degree? You won't earn much with your diploma. Do you have an alternate plan?"

He asked me this in front of mum. I told him about what I was really passionate about and that this diploma was just a backup for mum's sake. Since she's so obsessed with me having a cert. I told him everything that I had in mind. About what I wanted to do with my life.
To my surprise, he was extremely supportive. He told my mother about @joshmadj. For 30 minutes he sat there convincing my mother that the path I wanted to take was best for me. He convinced her that the entertainment industry was right for me and how powerful social media is now.
You guys, I've been trying to convince my mother since I was 16. I've been trying for 8 years. We fought so much because she was so adamant I get that cert. My HoP said the exact same thing I've been telling her for the past 8 years and he successfully convinced her.
We adjourned the meeting and she asked me if I still wanted to cont diploma. She said it's okay if I didn't want to. She said she wouldn't mind getting me the equipments I needed for my YouTube channel. You guys, I was about to cry. For the first time in my life, she was -
100% supportive without any hint of hesitation. I decided to complete my diploma since I'm so close to graduating. I thought today was going to be a bad day. But it ended up being better than good.
