Hello here’s an Obey Me thread no one asked for but I’m still doing:

Obey Me characters as types of Rock/Metal I think they’d enjoy.

(Disclaimer: these are all based on my own hc of the characters so you are free to disagree just don’t be a dick about it)

Alright, let’s jam

-Lucifer

Lucifer canonically likes metal (src: “Let’s Start a Band” chat) but not all metal is the same.

Lucifer definitely likes Symphonic Metal (AKA OWhy? It’s perfect blend of orchestral music and metal.

These four symphonic metals songs are definitely Lucifer’s jam. I can see him being very partial to Nightwish.

One day I will write Lucifer fic to She Is My Sin. One day....

-Mammon

Mammon also likes metal, but I’d say his metal style is more of the classic heavy metal bands. It’s headbanging music, and the more mainstream version of metal, which is definitely something Mammon would be into. I can totally see Mammon jamming out to Judas Priest

Painkiller- Judas Priest

Mammon running into the pit to try and tear it up but only getting his ass handed to him and having to be rescued by either Beel or Satan can I get a yeah

I know y’all are expecting to see J-rock on here, so guess what?!

Leviathan is a Visual Kei head. But, I’m not just talking Neo-Visual Kei, he def is a hardcore stan and knows OGs, like X Japan, L’Arc-en-Ciel (+ Hyde)

He isn’t against the neo-Visual Kei, like SiD,and Versailles, which flirts his taste with metal. Ofc he does listen neoJ-Rock, Baby Metal, but his heart lies with Visual Kei.

So citing the LFAB chat again, Satan likes Ska Punk. Which I am wild for because the image of Punk Satan? Yes? Yes. I also think that Satan would also like punk as a whole. Why? Punk was all about anti-establishment. Saying fuck the man, fuck the machine, fuck everything.

His rock playlist is mainly Ska punk, I can also see him having 70s punk on there for when he’s really pissed at Lucifer and ready to tear up the pit

Alright, so I know what y’all are thinking. Asmo doesn’t seem like the type of person to like rock, right? WRONG!

Pop Punk motherfuckerrrrsss!

(Yes I know he says in the LSAB chat that he also likes glam rock but shh up pop punk comes from glam rock too)

Now the lines of what is and isn’t considered Pop Punk is very messy and I could go into a whole rant about what is and the different waves of pop-punk, but for the sake of conciseness, I’m using pop-punk as an all-encompassing term, though some examples ARE pop rock.

Pop punk lyrics are often characterized by lust, pining, and rebellious attitudes. It’s perfect for Asmo. Plus, they’re really easy to dance and jam to. Is it any surprise Asmo is a fan of pop-punk?

Alright so this giant baby. Gosh, I love him. His rock taste is influenced by his all of his brothers? I hc Beel as a homebody and very family-oriented, so it’s no surprise his brother’s music taste have rubbed off on him. So he’s kinda just across the spectrum.

HOWEVER, I do hc that since’s he’s usually around Mammon the most (besides Belphie ofc), he is most partial to heavy metal of all the genres. Have y’all ever lifted weights to heavy metal? Will absolutely change your life.

Beel can be a very angry and passionate person when it comes to doing the right thing and his family.

Emo rock. Yeah. I said it. Angst riddled, emo rock that also intersects with Pop Punk (see Asmodeus). You can pry this headcanon out of my cold dead hands and even then I will come back and fight you on this.

Listen. I’m gonna go on a tangent and talk about the one song that very specifically makes me think of Belphie, but that’s for later.

Anyway, Belphie definitely is still in his angsty emo teen phase despite being thousands of years old and that’s the end of justification.

Y’all ready for some Belphie angst? Strap in.

Helena by My Chemical Romance makes me think of Belphie. On the surface, it’s about mourning a loved one (Lilith). However, between the lines, Helena, and the entire Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge album in general, is about self-loathing and hatred.

Belphie holds a lot of anger for what happened to Lilith but I also believe that he blames himself because Beel had to choose to save either him or Lilith, and if only Belphie were stronger, he wouldn’t need saving, and Lilith would still be alive.

Anyway, just as an aside, seeing Helena live is a fucking religious experience

This fucker is a power metalhead. Can you see Diavolo at a power metal concert, going ham on the air guitar while Lucifer just stands next to him, wanting to go home.

Power metalheads are some of my favorite people. I knew one in hs and he was a giant himbo. Miss him.

Barbatos 100000% fucking perfect likes death metal, thrash metal, deathcore, etc. Anything with death growls and screams. In my experience, it’s always been the quiet ones who LOVE death metal.

The mental image of Barbatos making Diavolo’s tea while death growls blast in the kitchen sends me every time.
