Since the media has decided to do what they do best & demonize a wonderful human being, community leader & NFL legend, I've decided to introduce the world to the REAL @HerschelWalker in a THREAD 
Herschel Walker was born in March of 1962 in Wrightsville, GA. He was born into a Southern, blue collar family & had seven siblings. As a child, Herschel was overweight & had a significant speech impediment (stutter)
Herschel attended Johnson County High School where he played football, basketball & competed in track & field. Senior year, he rushed for 3,167 yds helping his team win their first state championship. He won the Dial Award as 1979 national high school scholar-athlete of the year
In Track & Field, Herschel competed in events ranging from the 100-yard dash to the shot put. He won the shot put (16.56m/54 ft 4in), 100-yard dash (9.5s) & 220-yard dash (21.5s) events at the GHSA Class A State T&F Championships
After graduation HS as Valedictorian, HJerschel played RB for the University of Georgia Bulldogs where he was a three-time All-American (football & track) & winner of the 1982 Heisman Trophy & Maxwell Award
He’s the only player in NCAA history to finish in the top 3 in Heisman voting in all three of his collegiate seasons, winning the Heisman his Junior Year. In 1999, Walker was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame & is considered one of college football's greatest players
After his junior year of college, Herschel went on to play football for the United States Football League, signing with the New Jersey Generals in 1983. He won the USFL rushing title in 1983 and 1985
Herschel's NFL dreams came true in 1985 when he was drafted in the fifth round of the NFL draft (114 overall) by the Dallas Cowboys
In 1987, Herschel took over as the Cowboys main running back, playing in 12 games (11 starts), while registering 891 rushing yards, 715 receiving yards, and 8 touchdowns
He established himself as a premiere NFL running back in 1988, becoming a one-man offense, reaching his NFL career highs of 1,514 rushing yards and 505 receiving yards, while playing seven positions
Over the span of his 21 year professional career, Herschel played for the Dallas Cowboys (two stints), The Minnesota Vikings, The Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants
In 12 NFL seasons, Walker gained 8,225 rushing yards, 4,859 receiving yards, and 5,084 kickoff-return yards for 18,168 total combined net yards, ranking him second among the NFL's all-time leaders in total yardage as of his retirement
On the field, he was a beloved NFL champion. Off the field, Walker had to push himself to overcome a stuttering problem & a battle with Dissociative Identity Disorder
In 2009, he published his first book, “Breaking Free: My Life with Dissociative Identity Disorder.” In the book, he recalled growing up with a “severe stuttering problem" and said he was often bullied by his peers

Herschel is President and Chief Executive Officer of H. Walker Enterprises, LLC (HWE) and Renaissance Man Food Services, LLC (RMFS), a certified minority business enterprise that supplies poultry, pork and bakery products to the food service and retail marketplace
Herschel also visits military bases every month in conjunction with the Patriot Support Program developed along with Universal Health Services, Inc., the nation’s largest behavioral health hospital. The program is dedicated to our nation's military service men and women
Walker is also known for his presentations and speeches, where he shares inspiring leadership lessons he has learned about teamwork, goal setting, perseverance, initiative, preparation, discipline, and overcoming obstacles

Herschel stated he wants black Americans to think for themselves
