Is @davaja paying homage to a Steranko page from Strange Tales #157 with these pages from Secret Avengers #18? Maybe. Even if not direct nods, they still function as tributes, as Steranko is arguably the progenitor of experimental page design in mainstream superhero comics.

(1/2) Though broadly similar, as all are page-size panels depicting combat on steps in a cavernous complex, there is a key difference:

(2/2) Steranko’s page depicts Nick Fury taking on seven agents of Hydra and no individual figure is repeated to represent movement. Each of Aja’s pages freeze a hero at different moments in a discrete environment.
