Participatory democracy. That's not a luxury. That's not 'value add'. That's the single most precious thing we have as a society. Have we abandoned even the pretence that a liberal education is about preparing for active citizenship? 2/4
We need to make the case for HASS as creating job ready graduates but we are more than just workers. We are citizens. Humanities and social science education is what preps us as stewards of democracy. What could be a more valuable investment in our future? 4/4
