Thinking about my family's Sydney Olympics 20th Anniversary story:
As Juan Antonio Samaranch said "the winner is.. Sydney", my Grandfather turned to the family and declared in his thick German accent "I will sooner die than see Sydney host the Olympic Games."

No one knows why he said this. We had no indication the Olympics were particularly sacred or Sydney particularly hated. But, a man of his word, as 2000 rolled around his health rapidly declined and he died with about six weeks to spare.

That's the Olympic Spirit. Set your sights on your goal and achieve it, no matter what. Please put these tweets in some montage set to chariots of fire or something.
