On Sept 19, 2017, just weeks after a 77 day camping trip that changed my life, I was the passenger in a horrific car crash that, according to the paramedics, I should have never survived. As it plummeted down a cliff, the car caught air and slammed into a tree
The crash brought the dashboard onto my legs, tearing through the full width of my seat. Upon impact, the leather-bound trunk filled with books in the back of the hatchback tore through the rear seats and pushed my seat even closer to the dashboard
First-responders, paramedics and police officers arrived on the scene and were baffled to find that I not only was alive, but had freed myself from the vehicle, all limbs intact. Having heard of the crash, ER doctors on staff awaited my arrival
Typically, when an identity is unknown, a female patient is given the name Jane Doe. However, with all accounts considered, doctors on staff gave me the identifying name of “Lucky Lucky”
Following my discharge from the hospital, not only was I faced with the insecurities of a battered face and the physical limitations of legs left black and blue, but I was also left with a mind I was no longer comfortable living within
Depression, anxiety, PTSD, and seemingly unceasing panic attacks left my hopes of returning to a joy-filled life bleak. Though physical and mental therapies gave me tools for taking steps in the right direction, there was nothing that could bring ease to my mind in the way..
..creating art did and continues to do. Within every stitch, brush stroke & blossomed idea comes forth a joy within me I cannot bring to words. I appreciate every single one of you every moment for your love and continued support! it means more than you know & i’m beyond thankful
