A digital marketing audit "helps clarify and empower decision making for your digital efforts" - @AugustAsh

We've created a PPTX template (link at the end of the thread) covering:

1. Website
2. SEO
3. SEM & Paid Media
4. Social Media
5. Email Marketing
1. Website Audit

It all starts with @googleanalytics.

Look for top-level traffic trends. Focus on answering these q's:

- Are sessions trending up or down? Why?
- Are conversions trending up or down? Why?
- What are the most viewed pages?
- What are the best traffic sources?
2. SEO Audit

Of the many factors affecting search rankings, run these checks first:

- Crawl pages for on-page SEO issues: https://www.seoptimer.com/seo-crawler/
- Check content quality: https://www.seoptimer.com/keyword-density-tool
- Run a speed test: https://www.seoptimer.com/website-speed-test
3. SEM & Paid Media Audit

Open @GoogleAds.

List all target keywords including impressions, clicks, conversions. Really interrogate these.

Export all ad creative and sense-check with real customers (if possible).

Also check cost & bid and audiences.
3. SEM & Paid Media Audit (cont'd)

Export performance from display ads like GDN or any other ad network / programmatic platform like @AdRoll. Main metrics will likely be CPM and CPC.

Check if any Native ads are running (ie @Outbrain) and benchmark CPM and CPC too.
4. Social Media Audit

Use a social analytics tool like @socialstatusio to rank organic & paid posts. Focus on answering these q's:

- Is organic reach going up or down?
- Is Engagement Rate going up or down?
- Which social channel is performing best?
- Is social driving traffic?
4. Social Media Audit (cont'd)

Use a social listening tool like @AwarioApp to find on-topic mentions on social channels.

Social listening is all about answering:

- Where are conversations happening?
- What are they talking about?
- Who are the key people driving it?
5. Email Marketing Audit

Export all previous email campaigns and benchmark key metrics:

- Bounce rate
- Open rate
- Click through rate and/or Conversion rate
- Unsubscribe rate

Check Subject lines, Headings, Body copy, and most of all, is the Call to Action (CTA) compelling?
5. Email Marketing Audit (cont'd)

You should also audit list quality:

- Were high quality contacts acquired?
- Was there a double opt-in?
- Does on-site behavioral data exist for contacts?
- Are contacts in segments?
- What send frequencies were used previously?
