Had one of those tech parent moments wherein I actually checked what my kid had been up to on the iPad, and had to let the school know that he was spending over an hour of class time playing web games.
Along with sending them all the details so they could check in.

1. He was far from the worst culprit (which he told us, and I believed).
2. The school has reviewed their blocking and updated the way they work in class.
3. They have very very much not told any parents.
Teachers are under a tonne of pressure. Especially to use tech they don't quite understand.

That said, I don't think you should miss that 50% of your class is spending hours each day playing games.
Basically this is a reminder that you should have some form of tracking on accounts kids use (with your kids consent and knowledge) and you should review their usage if it's not happening right in front of you.
