I got a deeply misleading email back. If you wrote you probably did too.

Firstly, employees are not being given PTO for the fires. They're allowed to use their own sick time or their vacation time, which is PTO not earmarked for ***employers*** to dip into in case of emergency.
Secondly, the libraries aren't open for normal business but ARE for curbside pick up, which is still staffed by human beings who have to go into those libraries.

Curbside is not CLOSED, and it's dishonest to characterize it as such.
THIRDLY! I'm hearing tell that branches have run out of N-95s and so many staff menebera are operating without the necessary PPE to keep them safe from the smoke AND the virus.
Honestly imagine asking your employees to use up their sick time during a pandemic because you refuse to close?
