I wish I could root for boring whites but that was never in the cards. My first favorite BB player was Brittany Petros when I was 7 years old. Rooting for dynamic, unique, underdogs has been my cross to bear since Day 1. #BB22
On BB2, when I was 8, my favorite players were Monica Bailey and Dr. Will. They weren't necessarily underdogs, and one of them is white, but bland and boring he is not. He made me love strategists and she was so easy to root for. #BB22
By the time I was 9, BB had hit it out of the park that I honestly didn't know how they could top themselves. And then I met her. Danielle Reyes is my all time favorite BB Houseguest. She combined everything I loved in a personality with the strategy to back it up. #BB22
Truth is I loved a lot of the BB3 cast, most of them, actually, but these 4 plus Reyes. DAMN what a cast. I was in love with Lisa. I rooted for Dani and Jason. Marcellas and Amy made me laugh like no others. God, we were so blessed. #BB22
When I was 10 BB4 brought the first big casting twist: the X factor. But it also brought one of my all time favorite winners in Jun. She was unapologetically herself. Strategic. Social. She brought it all. And so did Allison who I hated just as equally as I loved Jun. #BB22
At 11, I went away to camp for the first part of BB5 but my mom wrote me letters updating me with everything going on in the house. She updated me on everything from the Horsemen to Project DNA. It was tough to be away, but I always had those letters to look forward to. #BB22
When I finally got home, it was like I hadn't missed an episode. I watched as Diane took control in a way I hadn't seen before, by using her showmance to flip the script. And Marvin was hilarious. And Karen was socially out of this world. And Nakomis was strategic. #BB22
By 12, I was off to camp again, doomed to miss the beginning of BB6. My mother, once again, provided me with up-to-date descriptions about all the relationships in the house and who we couldn't stand. When I got home, it was clear, we were in a war and this was the squad. #BB22
Big Brother 6 solidified what I knew Big Brother could always be: strategic, dynamic, dirty, mean, thought-provoking, entertaining, and stimulating all in one season. And the clear stars were Janelle and Kaysar. #BB22
I will never forget sitting on my living room floor watching as Janelle, who we thought was going to be another Holly (BB5) airhead, told us in the DR about her strategy of learning who was smart and who was dumb by playing chess. #BB22
And then there was Kaysar. Who, in a post 9/11 world, taught us about the humanity of Islam and that our differences only define us if we let them. And when he was the only one to realize Janelle's dumb blonde act was just an act, it was a match for the ages. #BB22
When I was 14, I was obviously riding once more with the squad as I watched Janelle and Kaysar wreck house in the beginning and Janelle wreck house alone all the way to F3 for the second time back-to-back. #BB22
At 15, I watched how a broken relationship could be repaired through a mutual love of the game. Maybe it didn't last, but I was Team Donato till the bitter end. They were everything. It also didn't hurt that I was 15 and in love with Daniele. #BB22
BB tried something new with BB9 and it has its merits. I learned a LOT on that season, but nothing kids should be learning at 15. But they did something. Anyway, I loved Sheila. She brought everything. #BB22
Then came BB10. I was away for the first four weeks of this season at a summer study program. By now, I had a cell phone so I got my updates and a DVR so I could watch the shows when I got home. I had heard tales of a teacher from Michigan, an old man, and a bodybuilder. #BB22
The first thing I did when I got home (no I didn't unpack) was turn on Episode 1 of BB10 and I watched every episode I missed that entire night. By the time I was caught up, it was clear I was riding HARD with these folks and I never looked back. #BB22
I will admit, I don't even want to write this. But I was a lowly caucasual as a child. And I hated Jessie. So when he got into the house and ran shit from Day 1, I rooted for the underdogs. Yes, I am admitting I was JeJo trash but at least I'm being honest about it. #BB22
At 17, I was preparing to go away to college and I was anxious. Luckily I had BB12, which honestly, is my favorite cast. They were dynamic, I hated some of them, and I loved some of them. But one person has truly stood out and stood the test of time. #BB22
My sense of humor has never felt seen as much as it was when Britney was talking. There was a wit, a sophistication, but also a low-brow level of her humor that spoke to me on a SPIRITUAL level. And her trashing Rachel is what I watch to make me feel good. #BB22
I was torn on BB13 because I loved JeJo (see above) but I also loved the Donatos (see above). Ultimately, I chose the side of the underdog in Dani Donato. I hate BB13 because it was rigged but watching Dani Donato trash Rachel was a highlight. #BB22
Well BB14 happened and I was just happy to get 3/4 of my favorite players of all time back. I wound up losing Janelle and hating Dan so let's call it a win/win. At least I had Britney for however long I had her. #BB22
And from here on it's been dark days rooting for the underdogs and non-racists. Donny, the Goblins, Day, the LNJ, The Hive, Kemi, and now Janelle and Kaysar again. It's all full circle. And I'm tired. I'm just tired. End. #BB22
