On any given day in America, you could uncover thousands of illustrations of systemic racism in action. You could uncover dozens & dozens of examples of BLM advocates peacefully protesting. But this is the thing people On Here are obsessing over. https://twitter.com/KunkleFredrick/status/1298344285079838720
Personally & politically, we create our worlds by what we choose to pay attention to. If you want to create a world where over-enthusiastic protesters for racial justice are a real or substantial problem, you can sift through today's abundant media & construct that world.
The two questions people should always be asking themselves are, a) does the world I'm seeing/constructing comport with available empirical data? and b) does the world I'm seeing/constructive center equity for the most vulnerable or my own insecurities/grievances?
This kind of self-awareness & self-examination is difficult & no one's great at it (least of all me). It's a struggle. We should all just remember, in the age of social media, that when we notice/elevate something (whatever it is), we are, in a small way, creating a world.
I have now been accused of subtweeting fully four separate people and I promise, I was not. Just a "note to self" kind of thing, about something of which I am extremely guilty ... which I should know by now translates terribly to twitter. Gonna return to Don Jr. jokes.
