Day 2 and the triggered reactions from black men (especially dark skinned) over my satirical fan cast have intensified. Over 400K impressions & 100K engagement. But a few months ago it was “dark skinned men don’t care about this. We’re too confident in our skin tone”. Amazing. https://twitter.com/jordansumbu/status/1297750591003746305
Countless tweets from black men emphasizing the importance of Static being dark skinned with locs & him not being mixed. Making the clear distinction between black & mixed. My satirical experiment was successful & showed that black men care & will fight to preserve our image.
If little black boys all over the world can’t see themselves in light skinned biracial actors portraying canonically dark skinned Static, what makes you think that little black girls can see themselves in light skinned biracial actresses playing Storm or Vixen?
The fact that so many black men were able to point out the colorism, featurism & texturism in these satirical fan casts by stressing that Static has to be dark skinned with Afrocentric features & locs, but look the the way when it happens to dark skinned women is disgraceful.
