was already looking forward to AWTWB, but now i’m even more convinced that book is gonna hit me extra hard (in a good way, ya know)
not to b starting book discourse on a tuesday afternoon, but carry on was always a comfort book for me and i’m really interested to see how the trilogy plays out (even though it was only supposed to be a stand alone book to my knowledge)
i think (esp as a fan of harry potter) these books have allowed us to unpack heavier topics in somewhat of a familiar setting and seeing fantasy characters still dealing with depression/anxiety/more makes us all feel a little normal
i had my reservations about wayward son, but then i realized some of my frustrations towards the characters mirrored my own frustrations with myself. simon is depressed, baz is questioning himself, nobody else knows what the hell they want in life.
i wrote a gigantic review around a month after finishing the book that essentially says the same thing as this thread, but as RR said today, it is supposed to be messy because that’s what life is
