Today’s been SO good, and I feel really thankful to everyone who’s shared the report and the media who has got it out there. But interesting lessons continue to be learnt about the media. Some I of course knew, but you do forget until you come to need/want media support...
1) Research isn’t deemed research unless it comes from a think tank or university. Can the community not conduct research and it have validity? Why does it need to be attached to a big name if the end product is the same (if not better). We conducted such a robust piece of work..
but notoriety remains important. I say this with full respect for the fact they are (everyone knows how much I am in awe of them but this sounds passive agg https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😂" title="Gesicht mit Freudentränen" aria-label="Emoji: Gesicht mit Freudentränen">) thank god within the authorship we have Drs. I now get the conflict between not wanting to use the term...
but knowing the weight it carries.

2) Non-LDN stories are so far off being as important to national media. I WOULD believe that stories for national media needing to be about the UK was true, but reality is LDN based news is so often by default seen (and framed) as about the UK.
It doesn’t completely matter that the report speaks to a national and international context... the location of its respondents are not completely enough.

3) The different standards that are put upon people. 554 people being deemed ‘not enough respondents’
is completely baffling to me. Almost double the amount of people than, for example, the GM Youth Violence Strategy consultation (that looks at a far broader topic), we have pages and pages of in depth insight from people, the majority of which we couldn’t even get in the report..
Not just 554 people ticking yes or no. 554 people taking their time to put in depth opinions down.

Today has been brilliant https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="💛" title="Gelbes Herz" aria-label="Emoji: Gelbes Herz"> I’m not actually annoyed just reflecting on an interesting day! I feel excited to focus on getting out on community airwaves over the coming weeks.
