"The Fraternal Order of Police has told us candidly what they are...We ought to believe them."

@StevenIsoye @JillManrique @RebeccaZyg @nowikcandle @revonitz @James_Specker some hw for you. SkokieFOP told us candidly what they are. As leaders+board members, what will you do next? https://twitter.com/eveewing/status/1298292486507499522

As both a community and staff member, I am deeply upset at the detours this group takes during board meetings. I am deeply upset at how much "equity" is tossed around as a "priority", but when inequities are front and center DURING meetings, it is not addressed.
Instead of being addressed, these inequities are exacerbated when the patriarch lays down the proverbial hammer. And by patriarch, I am referring to two particular members of this board.

Instead, white fragility shines bright with shields and defensive remarks.
Stop parading around "diversity" as "equity" bc while we are a racially diverse community, there are so many inequities that you may or may not be aware of.

Instead of talking over each other, ask questions to those in the community and schools. Actually listen.
I am still shaken from last month's board meeting where one member shared their experiences. THREE extraordinary womxn of color were PHYSICALLY disturbed. ONE got up and left bc trauma was put on display.

Was there an apology? Was there an acknowledgement of this pain?
Read the @VanityFair article that @eveewing wrote.

Why do you need see another video? Hear yet another story of BIPOC trauma? Call for data?

The data is out there for this data-driven board. It's not hard to find. But it's going to show the same thing.
I expect better of this group.

If this summer has shown me anything, it is who I will vote out come election time.

And FFS, do y'all not realize Robert's Rules uphold whiteness? If you're really about equity, use/create a better structure and system.
