One of my favorite children's programming tropes is the first season playing it relatively safe and minding the boundaries of what's "acceptable", and as soon as they get a second season they start pushing all those boundaries cus they actually understand what kids can handle
Like I've been watching Infinity Train and the first season already played with some heavy stuff, but S2 doubled down even harder on the more complex themes and unnerving imagery. Other examples would be like Gravity Falls practically becoming a horror show in it's season 2
Children's TV refused to acknowledge the intelligence and maturity of its audience for so long, and now all the kids that watched those superficial shows have grown up and are making things they would have wanted to watch as a kid, cus they know kids deserve to be challenged
