i have experienced the vitriol from people (even those who consider themselves left) when you bring up anything remotely positive about cuba, castro or the revolution so i'll keep it short..
there's no coincidence why leaders in movements across the world (Black panthers, Anti-apartheid, Palestine, etc) have aligned themselves w/ the cuban revolution. if u align w/ any of those movements, u should consider studying deeply about why the narrative of cuba is what it is
there is no confusion abt the conditions of cuba, the "what" is very clear. people are still unclear of the "why". many of us who are cuban descent, whether a lineage of wealth or poverty, cling to familial experience to try to understand.
i did that for a very long time, but familial experience is not a historical analysis. it doesn't explain the why's. there's much for me to learn about this still, and i pose this thread as a thought agitator for people who feel confused – even at the risk of being attacked
