challenge: name more than 2 fictional lesbian characters that are in current media and are “stereotypes” aka just butch. okay, now think of every thin, straight conventially attractive woman that appeals to the male gaze playing a lesbian right now. exactly.

i just want everyone to challenge why they think the “butch stereotype” in media is as big as it is. is it that maybe internalized lesbophobia and that you don’t want to align yourself with butches? or do you only support thin, andro lesbians w short hair who wear still makeup?

and listen - i used to think like this too! i used to only uplift femmes for being underrepresented. meanwhile the only lesbian in media i could think of that was NEAR butch at the time was audrey jensen. but that internalized butchphobia + fatphobia in the community is such a

problem. we already deal with enough shit trying to exist without being attached to men in a misogynistic and homophobic world. no one needs that from other lesbians too. just a reminder we gotta keep checking ourself.
