THREAD: NINTENDO DIRECT, WHAT'S LIKELY, WHAT'S NOT!

August 28 or September?
General Direct? Mini? Partners Showcase?

Most reliable sources say #NintendoDirect General on August 28 so let's suppose it's true...what to expect?
Time for me to give you my personal analysis!

1/
1. BRAVELY DEFAULT 2: Probability 100%

Bravely Default 2 has been shown already (twice), got a demo, is slated for 2020, was near completion back in June and Nintendo publishes it.

It's THE safest game to bet on for a Direct presence.

#NintendoSwitch

2/
2. DOOM Eternal: Probability 99%

Early July we've been promised a release date soon: A Direct is now the only event to give us that, DOOM 2016 was revealed in the September 2017 Direct so they may use the same strategy.

It's a big 3rd party port so...

#NintendoDirect

3/
3. Zelda BOTW 2: Probability 50%

It was shown in June 2019 when they didn't even need to, meaning the game was advanced so a release in the 1st half of 2021 is realistic.

Which means it might be time to show it but they could keep it for Game Awards 2020!

#NintendoDirect

4/
4. No More Heroes 3: Probability 95%

No More Heroes 3 had a probability of 50% to release in 2020 according to Suda 51. The game was teased several times this year, a remaster of NMH1 has also been rated so there's no reason to hold back, but you never know!

#NintendoDirect

5/
5. Mario Collection : 99%

Confirmed by many credible sources in the industry, there's little doubt this game exists but who knows how they intend to show it and would they keep it for a Twitter announcement instead? It's big enough for a Direct though!

#NintendoDirect

6/
6. Persona 5 Scramble: 33%

Persona 5 Scramble went MIA since the Japanese release, we just know it'll release in the West before March 31st 2021, and they missed many opportunities to announce the release date. Their best shot at promoting it, let's see!

#NintendoDirect

7/
7. Bayonetta 3: 50%

A bit like Zelda BOTW 2 it's been in development for years and it'll basically be in this Direct or they'll keep it for The Game Awards, one or the other. It really depends on how close the release date is.

#NintendoDirect

8/
8. Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory: 50%

The release date leaked through 2 Sites: November 13, 2020, but it's not official and we know so little about it so they'll have to show it in a Direct or at Tokyo Game Show 2020. Announcing Sora 4 Smash along it? :p

#NintendoDirect

9/
9. Mario 3D World DX: 99%

It's one of the strongest rumored games, we just don't know if it's a late 2020 or early 2021 title but it doesn't matter as it'd be part of Mario 35th Anniversary so the probability is very strong to see that one!

#NintendoDirect

10/
10. Mario Sports: 75%

Mario Sports has been rated, that's all we know but odds are strong it'll be part of the 35th anniversary announcements and could be the big multiplayer game of late 2020.Let's see who develops it and if they can do better than on 3DS

#NintendoDirect

11/
11. Smash Bros character: 99%

Nintendo tends to put Smash Bros announcements in every Direct, however another event seems to be coming in September so it might be a Smash Direct, no certainty.

No idea who the character might be..Crash Bandicoot? Sora?

#NintendoDirect

12/
12. Metroid 5 / New Metroid Remake: 33%

It's been rumored for a while: Mercury seems to be working on another Metroid after Samus Returns and it'd be a 2021 title. Nintendo might feel it's time to give something to the fans after the reboot of MP4.

#NintendoDirect

13/
13. Pokémon Sword & Shield DLC: 95%

Nintendo might use this opportunity to show more about the 2nd Story DLC, that won't surprise anybody...but what if they announced a second season pass? They did it for Smash after all, you never know!

#NintendoDirect

14/
14. Zelda Skyward Sword HD: 10%

This Direct should have a special place for the Mario 35th anniversary so I think going on with Zelda's anniversary titles might be overkill so I don't expect it but that's Nintendo...

#NintendoDirect

15/
15. The World Ends With You 2: 50%

We know it's real since last year through a Square insider with a spotless record that TWEWY 2 is coming to Switch as a time-limited exclusive, and the anime announement early 2021 confirmed it even more! The time is ripe?

#NintendoDirect
16/
16. Monolith's New Game: 10-15%

Summer 2017: Monolith started to work on a new title, New IP for some, New Xenoblade for others (nobody is really sure), it's probably well advanced now for a 2021 release so it might be THE surprise with TWEWY 2!
Let's hope

#NintendoDirect

17/
17. Rune Factory 5: 33%

When Rune Factory 4 Special was announced for Switch they also announced RF5 was coming to Switch in 2020, we didn't hear anything since then but this Direct might be the way to show it at last!

#NintendoDirect

18/
18. New Sonic: 25%

A new Sonic is in development, we didn't get one since Sonic Forces in 2017 and Sega wants to make it right this time (they said it so!), SXSW 2020 seemed to be where they intended to show it but Covid...Will the Direct be THE place?

#NintendoDirect

19/
19. Yo-kai Watch 4: 20%

This game released in June 2019 in Japan, no news since then, and then we hope to see it in the next Direct. It's possible this time will be THE time but it's better to not expect it just in case given past trends...

#NintendoDirect

20/
20. Monster Hunter Next

Rumored for a while, recently confirmed by a reliable Capcom insider, there seems to be a MH of sort coming to Switch, will this Direct be THE place or will they wait till Tokyo Game Show 2020? Who knows...

#NintendoDirect

21/
21. Splatoon Title: 33%

A new Splatoon title (Splatoon 3? Spin-off?) seemed to be teased when they wished us a happy new year so something might be in development but will we see it? Would they keep for a 2021 Direct after delaying it because of Covid? Wait & See!

Ports we never heard of might appear but given we're in the dark we can't theorize...Many possibilities and now you have some ideas about what to expect and how likely it is to appear, as long as it's not 0% there's hope but have realistic expectations!
