The players are realizing what we all do at some point. Awareness can only go so far and it’s not their fault. Same thing with folks speaking up on social media Systems won’t change just b/c we tell people they’re bad.
That’s a hard point to accept but it’s also why I’m numb https://twitter.com/Kungu_NBA/status/1298321649448751111">https://twitter.com/Kungu_NBA...

Wanting change is a far more nuanced discussion. People are seeing that power doesn’t always yield to popular pressure. But that’s the story of racism (and sexism + more) in America. It’s built to evolve and withstand as much as we push back.
But awareness? It only does so much
But awareness? It only does so much
And that’s the F-d up part. There’s no simple answer. Plenty of noble intentions and good ideas and well executed plans. But there’s no simple way to fight this and it hurts. It hurts seeing people feel defeated yet inspired. It hurts me feeling the same way
I’m not saying don’t speak up. We need to. We must & will. But I wonder what more we can do b/c going hard for awareness and doing actions isn’t & never was enough. And that makes me jaded sadly
I feel for the NBA players and others today. B/c I’ve been there. Hell, I am there.
