Trying to figure out how Liz Bruenig scored last nights RNC convention (left) as better than the two nights of the DNC she scored (right).
These rankings are pretty trivial and not worth taking all that seriously, but the logic seems to be that a) Tim Scott gave a good speech without lying, and b) liberals invented identify politics which the GOP is now doing.
Obviously NYT opinion writers are paid to have sharp and provocative opinions, and good luck to her. I'm just puzzled by a theory of change that prioritizes more universal benefits while dismissing the politicians closest to those policy views as engaged in "girlbossery."
This point by Matt is super helpful. People make judgments based on their reference points. If you are a Bernie supporter, and you are scoring the DNC against the hypothetical Bernie event, that may cause you to be more critical. https://twitter.com/besttrousers/status/1298328499699228672?s=20
