Pulled up the first open-source project I ever contributed to (a Plex-like thing for Mac, hosted on Sourceforge, natch) and it’s just an absolute nightmare, a rat’s nest of hideous OO ontologies and mixed tabs/spaces. The past is a foreign country
ObjC may be on a downward evolutionary arc—and quite rightly, it’s a relic—but it’s really worth noting how much better Apple made it over the decade-ish I wrote it.
Also I came back to this thread and it sounds really snide so let me say that I really appreciate the group of Belgians who gave a 17-year-old who didn’t know *anything* the chance to write some code that a few people actually used. That was cool of them.
