For every like this tweet gets, I will tell you something about me and/or give an opinion on something. (define didn't steal this from Cheeze)
1. I have HMS (Hypermobility Syndrome) that renders me unable to exercise. The most I can do is walk or cycle, but that has its limits too.
2. I wish that philosophy was more common of a topic in daily life. Especially in politics.
3. I've thought a lot about...
3. ...quitting mapping recently.
4. Even if ideal communism could be implemented correctly, I don't think it'd be a good system.
5. I think humans are inherently egoistical, however depressing that may be.
6. When I get out of high school, I want to take a year off to earn money and travel to some discord friends of mine. After that, off to university to probably study politicology.
7. If I got the opportunity to make a living off of mapping somewhere in the future, I honestly would. My thoughts of quitting have to do with stress, school, etc. Not my motivation.
8. People who argue and debate solely to force their opinion down other people's throats - instead of having an open-minded debate - piss me off. "much my opinion is the only correct one" stfu
9. Back in March, I came pretty close to a full-on legit burnout. I nearly avoided one. Luckily my mentor was quite helpful and I have a good reputation with teachers at school for being a dedicated student.
9. I'll add to this one that I was technically burnt out already according to the English language, but it could've been a lot worse. Since Dutch makes a difference between being overly stressed (overspannen) and actually being burnt out, while English language doesn't.
10. I'm an atheist, but goddamn it pisses me off when other atheists call religion dumb. I don't believe in a God, but calling it dumb is just insulting.
11. I can't handle confrontation well.
12. I overthink too much, honestly. And I hate it.
13. While I do agree that there's still room for improvement in regards to women's rights, I think that it's sad to see that society's focus only lies on that, while there's certainly also struggles for men. (e.g. (toxic) masculinity, criminal justice, depression, etc.)
14. Not too long ago, I found out that I have Jewish heritage somewhere.
15. I may have a lot of roots across the world (Suriname, China, Czechia, etc.), but I feel as Dutch as I can be. Maybe even more than some of my typically Dutch friends. I even have a Dutch flag on my wall.
16. I don't think we should have open borders. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the "filthy immigrants who come to ruin our country with their different culture grr", in fact I think that other cultures can enrich ours, but I do think integration is really important. And...
16. ...with open borders, there's the risk that immigrants could enter our country in masses. That would only slow down the integration process and make it so that they can just stick to their own groups, instead of interacting with Dutch society. And if they can stick to...
16. ...their own groups and they don't interact with Dutch society, their own cultural identity will only strengthen. This would bring the risk of tensions between their culture and Dutch culture, possibly leading to conflicts and violence, and I don't think anybody wants that...
17. It weirds me out that in the mapping community, such young people can be so obsessed with one ideology. Especially when it's extreme. Like yeah, I think it's important to be politically involved, but the mapping community just takes it one step too far.
18. In some cases, cancel culture can't be avoided and can be justified. But still:
19. I think you should always search for a diplomatic solution first, but if one cannot be reached, then I think war can also be justified in some cases.
20. The death penalty should be completely abolished. I understand that some people would think it's appropriate to give some of the most violent/dangerous criminals the death penalty, but there's never been a 100% guarantee that they got the wrongdoer, as countless people...
21. ...have been wrongly punished. Taking that risk with human lives is immoral, in my opinion.
21. Fuck homophobia, racism, sexism, etc. Miss me with that bullshit. (whoops the last one is still number 20)
22. I have eczema.
23. Cats > dogs
24. Pasta is overrated. Lasagne rules.
25. Football is overrated.
26. I would rather stay a virgin until I'm 22 years old and find someone who I stay with for the rest of my life/as long as possible, than have a relationship for the sakes of having one. However long it may take.
27. I'm so law-abiding that, when crossing the street, I even stop for a red light if there's little to no traffic at all.
28. I'm doing this, where I give an opinion/fact about myself for every like, because as a person, I want to be more defined. I feel like out of a fear for conflict, I tend to hold a lot of my thoughts back, but I can just unleash them in this thread.
