During the same @WhiteHouse press briefing, @SecAzar repeated the misleading claim that the convalescent plasma (CP) therapy will result in "35% mortality reduction".
I believe Mr. Azar has not yet retracted his false claim.

These claims were made by distorting the results from a study of the effects of early vs late CP therapy and the effects of high IgG antibody concentration CP vs low IgG CP.
The study was NOT a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) of CP vs placebo.

Not only the study did NOT compare CP to placebo, it also did NOT report this false "35%" figure anywhere therein.

Such outrageous distortions of science for political gain only erode the trust of the public in science and public health institutions.

A large portion of the public have already seen and believed the original claim of "35% mortality reduction."
A much smaller portion will see the retraction(s).
The result would be less strict precautions against the #coronavirus, and therefore more infections & deaths.
