To be inclusive, you need to understand your organization's history and origin story - no matter how uncomfortable. You have to look at the good and the bad.
I love a good GoT reference, but he is also making a solid point. Who do our policies truly benefit? Who are we inviting to the table? It doesn't matter who you serve- if everyone making the decisions looks the same, it won't feel inclusive to the community.
Want to #diversify your pipeline? "Ask everyone! The primary reason potential donors don't give is because they are not asked."
I see this all the time. Boards add one person that is not a white man and think they are done. Your board should represent the constituencies you serve.
