Making the decision to independently publish was not an easy one: a thread. I wanted the dream like most - find that perfect agent, get that fat royalty check, see my book in stores. Ride off into the sunset or whatever. But as I queried, I researched. (1)
Aaand there’s a lot to unpack. I would urge anyone struggling with the decision - do your research! Learn the industry. Watch how industry professionals talk, watch the market. Eventually, I realized I needed to be true to my soul - I’m not a commercial...(2)
writer and most publishers aren’t interested in what I write about. And that’s okay because honestly, I don’t want to be. I’m a rebel - why try to fit in now? I believe there is a niche market for me and it’s my job to get it into their hands. (3)
If that means I have to bust my tail (anyone who thinks self-publishing is easy or cheap needs a smack upside the head) and struggle, so be it. No, I’m not giving up on the dream. I’m making it a reality. Why am I posting this? I often wonder how many...(4)
