If you are a cis/het man, writing fiction from a women's POV, and considering detailing this character's rape: PLEASE DO NOT!
Especially, but not only, if you want to write about how this character finds it painful yet thrilling and secretly enjoyable
If you're determined to write like this, you need a long dark tea time of the soul to process why. (I AM NOT AVAILABLE FOR THIS PROCESS.) And just because you wrote this thing, doesn't mean you require another human being to read it!!!!
Cis/het men writing about women being raped: you've written some disturbing content and you are NOT entitled to eyes on it. Literary journals and their VOLUNTEERS do not owe you their time and attention.
*You* should be doing the work of researching if venues even consider this content. Always, always include a Content Warning in your cover letter for sexual violence and graphic sexual content.
But also, cis/het men, never stop considering that you do not have to write about women being raped. Or also, you can write it and not submit it to small lit journals!!!!!
