a thread of me doing the math to prove that there is a correlation between being a kpop catboy and taking one kind of selfie based on hay’s hypothesis
DISCLAIMER: Please don’t cancel me if you 1) don’t think one of these boys is a catboy 2) don’t like my categorization of their selfies. I don’t stan all these boys so I just took a glance at their selfies. This is just for fun!
First of all, as any good statistician knows, in order to generalize to an entire population (in this case, all kpop catboys) we need a representative sample of at least thirty!
I asked my followers for examples of kpop catboys, and tried my best to include as many different groups as possible, and to limit the number of members from any one group. That having been said, there will still be some bias as most people who follow me are nctzens or aroha!
So, without further ado, here’s out list of thirty kpop catboys that we’ll be working with here:
From here, it was time to set about proving our hypothesis: that being a kpop catboy set you up for failure in terms of taking dynamic selfies. From here, I carefully examined several of each kpop catboys selcas and divided them into two groups.
Group A: Unoriginal selfies. These kpop catboys were quite poor at taking unique selfies, often sticking with the same angles and poses.

Group B: Original Selfies. These catboys are at the top of their selfie game and we could all learn something from them.
DISCLAIMER: even if your fave is in group a, that doesn’t mean I do not like their selfies! In addition I had to look up thirty kpop boys selfies and honestly I just used the Twitter search bar for this so I might miscategorize one or two and I am sorry for that I tried 💔
Now that that’s out of the way, here are the results:

GROUP A: 21
GROUP B: 9
But what do these results mean? Can we say for certain that all kpop catboys struggle to take dynamic selfies? Let’s look at the numbers.
Setting aside bias (seeing as I am the only one to categorize these selfies and I am not intimately acquainted with each of these catboy’s selfie game), about 21/30 catboys had difficulty taking dynamic selfies, about 70%.
If I wanted to make this any more accurate, I would need to figure out a way to assign each catboy a figure that showed how dynamic their selfies are, and have a control group, but that sounds like a lot more work than I am willing to put in for a thread about kpop catboys.
So this flawed and subjective system will have to suffice for now until a day when I am well and truly bored.
70%, in my opinion, shows a fairly strong trends. Of course, I have already poured out the flaws in this thought experiment, but based solely on this statistic, I would venture to say that our hypothesis is on the right track.
And scene. [I bow.]
