I'm a trans woman.

In 1988 I wrote a novel TINY PIECES OF SKULL about trans life in 70s Chicago. It took me three decades to sell it whereupon it won a Lambda.

My poems DIALECTIC OF THE FLESH was shortlisted for a Lambda.

My translation of CATULLUS was praised by the TLS...
...and by the Bryn Mawr Classical Quarterly.

I'm a moderately successful writer. In my 70s.

It took this long.

This is why it's important that there not be trans-hating bigots like Sasha White acting as gate-keepers in literary agencies.
People moan about cancelling, about silencing.

My work was largely silenced for thirty years.

And yes, I know about gatekeeping and its responsibilities. I've worked as a reader in publishing for 40 years.

There are major writers and writers on here I helped get into print.
Being a bigot of any kind would mean that I was not doing my job properly.

That's why @TheTobiasAgency fired Sasha White.

Being grossly unprofessional.

It's not censorship to be fired for not doing your job properly. And if not doing your job properly is a matter of principle
Then getting fired is a consequence of sticking to your principles and maybe you shouldn't bitch about it too much.

I've walked out of jobs or been fired or demoted for sticking by principles. It's how life sometimes is.
