We need to discuss why they didn’t.

Countries that had abundant resources never historically colonized.

That’s why you don’t hear of African nations, the Asian sub-continent, the Americas were out here colonizing others.

It wouldn’t have happened because it didn’t need too. https://twitter.com/indikev/status/1298267470944333826
Colonization is a product of a hoarding of resources by the upper class in countries with limited resources to begin with.

That forced the country to look outward for necessities, that they had to trade and buy.

Except, can’t trade for shit if you don’t have much too offer.
Which leads to theft of resources on a massive scale aka colonization.

Add religion and racist anthropological beliefs that you’re superior to those you colonize you no longer see them as equals or deserving of those resources.

So you take it all, and force them into servitude.
The issue?

Colonization steals resources that are finite in a sense of time.

Yes, we can have more fossil fuels, gem stones, lumber, etc but those natural sources take millennia to grow and form.

So once the colonizers take it all, they create nations that now have nothing.
Which continues the cycle of wealth/resource hoarding by those in power, countries warring and colonizing each other for land and resources, and more mass scale destruction and devastation.
