well we just got an email saying that we can't use our son's PCA hours during school hours, even though there is no school and he's being educated at home. The schools are supposed to provide care. /1

2) when we last asked, the schools said they would not send aides into our home, but would provide services either remotely or in person. They have since canceled the in person option.

Our son does not learn without in-person one on one support.

3) We're facing a year without effective education unless a) we hire someone privately or b) I quit my job or reduce hours.

We do have a wealthy donor likely to make "a" possible if we need to. It's not a scalable solution.

4) I don't think the MN DHS has any idea how savage they come across to families like mine. They provide funding, but funding wrapped in opaque bureaucracy, unpenetrable acronyms, and edicts that read as cruel and uncaring.

5) Note: This is just a budget battle. Health and Human Services wants Education to pay for it. And families like mine get fucked.
