I want to make a thread of books I read back in like 2012 and why I loved them so yeah
The Body Finder: murder mysteries were huge for awhile, especially if they had a bit of supernatural element, Violet and Jay were goals for friends to lovers (then Rafe entered and I knew I loved bad boys)

(Shoutout to @taurusmoonwitch for reminding me this exists)
Glimmerglass: y’all always talk about sjm and the fae, but Jenna Black is a real one. I vividly remember multiple cute boys that I was absolutely in love with (especially the Erlking https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🥵" title="Hot face" aria-label="Emoji: Hot face">)
Blue is for Nightmares: disclaimer, I was very young when I read this so I don’t know if it accurate portrays Wicca. I do remember that Red is for Remembrance absolutely destroyed me https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🥺" title="Pleading face" aria-label="Emoji: Pleading face"> (which makes sense since the whole series is based on people dying)
Iron King: Julie is the other original queen of fae/fey stories for me! This is when I became obsessed with every character based on Puck, and I still love him. Ashallyn’ Darkmyr Tallyn is the ultimate soft, dark, broody boy https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🥺" title="Pleading face" aria-label="Emoji: Pleading face">
Dark Eyes: very different than pretty much everything I read then and now. Basically it’s New York, Russian Mob, and a morally grey mc who ran away from home. I absolutely loved it at the time though
I think it’s time to enter the werewolf phase so to start, Raised by Wolves: she was a human raised by the alpha of a pack and she was so badass and it was fun to see her challenge things and I remember adoring her
Nightshade: there was lots of magic and a forbidden love, if I remember correctly. Definitely a badass female mc, I wanted to be her
(And there was a spin-off series)
Shiver: I honestly don’t remember a lot about this series other than that I loved Sam and got mad when Cole showed up, and I loved how the love story developed? But it was the first Maggie series I read
Maximum Ride: Fang was absolutely one of my first book boyfriends and I would still die for him. I absolutely used to imagine I was part of the flock and help save the world. The series should’ve ended like 3 books ago though
I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have To Kill You: this series was SO empowering and had such strong women, I don’t even think there were love interests for like 3 books? And even then the girls were clearly superior. Made me want to be a spy + had a spinoff and crossover
To continue the boarding school trend, Hex Hall and Mythos Academy (I honestly don’t remember much about either but I do remember that I loved them) - the girl in mythos academy could tell the history of object by touching them so that was cool
Soul Screamers: SUCH a cool series because it had banshees and reapers and more! I loved Todd and I cried when the series ended because I felt like I had lost my friends
(this is one of my comfort series I go and reread)
Hearts At Stake (wow this cover gives such 2010 vibes): Nicky and Lucy are the best childhood friends to enemies to lovers. I really wanted each book in the series to be about a different brother (there’s 7? Of them) but we only got 4, however I love every one of them
These books were both middle grade, so I read them over 10 years ago, but I remember loving them so much, especially because they both used big words and lots of abstract ideas
Eyes Like Stars: I forgot this series existed until I started this thread, but it was my comfort read for a long time. Faeries and romance and theatre and Shakespeare inspiration, what more could a girl want?
