Vee challenges me on a regular basis, in a good way. She posed an interesting question. Imma try to explain my answer. (New follows: I thread often. Just how it is) https://twitter.com/VeeCeeMurphy76/status/1298239827981348869
Depending on area, a Black kid with football talent, is pursued by coaches. Whether it's peewee, middle or high school, you will see a smiling face at your door, telling you how they will help your kid excel. In reality, many coaches want to see themselves succeed.
So, in high school, if the Black kid has talent, college coaches will flock to your house. Some will tell you they'll treat your son like their son, etc. In all honesty, many coaches see Black kids as a commodity and not people. Bowl wins and titles matter.
So, if your son arrives on campus and he's phenomenal, his life is different. Remember, Herschel Walker was outstanding as a freshman at the University of Georgia. Treatment of star athletes is vastly different than others. Star football players sit at the top, or so they're told
If that kid excels in football, doors open. At big time schools, that Black kid will not have to worry about food or shelter for the first time in their lives. Some coaches will keep floating the lie of family, as long as the kid produces at a high level.
This is where the Republicanism enters. Many coaches and boosters are conservative. Star players are dined and taken care of. Some people eventually detached from where the came from. The allure of money and an easier life, changes sensibilities.
Star players are influenced by

"What did Clinton (Bill) and Obama do for your community?"

It's that seed of White coach comes to urban home, rescues Black athlete.
Now, there are phenomenal coaches that care about players. You know who they are.

The false ones don't and won't change. Some Tigers don't change their orange and purple stripes.
Republicanism becomes concrete when cashing those NFL paychecks. Some Black players believe the " pull yourselves up by the bootstraps" rhetoric.

It's now ingrained and becomes a part of their lives.
Brush, some of us weren't blessed with 4.3 speed, superhuman strength or the ability to play at an elite level. I don't begrudge their success, in fact, I applaud it. However, thinking everyone can get to where you are without the same gifts is stupid.
Some Black football players that eventually embrace conservatism believe they are exceptional and the struggle of those they deem as less talented do not apply.
So, how do we fix this?

Hire more Black head coaches in Division 1(FBS). There are 130 schools that play major college football and only 13 Black head coaches.

Top athletes need to start taking a deeper look at HBCU.
