Trumpist Republicans invested in last night's programming, we need to have a talk, a talk with a Black Gay Jewish guy of Southern heritage...I know that's a lot but I really need to get some stuff out.

The good thing about this current era is that I, a liberal leaning Black progressive with a moderate red button have gotten to know the softer side of those Republicans who don't dig your boo....like @TheRickWilson @JoeNBC @MichaelSteele @ProjectLincoln @SteveSchmidtSES etc

I used to think that Republicans didn't care at all about racism or lgbt rights etc.&the Trumpist mentality affirmed that. I used to think of this in Crusader terms w/o any hint of civility. TLP folks changed that. I'll never be a Republican but at least I know sheep vs goats.

Last nights convention was chaotic scattered and dogmatic..
It was a big tent alright....w/a Jim Crow rope down the middle. That hurts to have to say. I've tried, really I have to see any common ground but I don't see Ma and Pa #McCloskey ever making a potato salad I'd like

It's that you had people not confronting reality and bc they were not honest...failed to have a solution worthy of the problem. Black people...we were treated as a pathetic pathology, a cluster of symptoms not a proud community or human beings, just a bloc.

Nikki Haley was really awful. Her immigrant story is nice and all but sending someone who never thought or heard (?) the Confederate battle flag might not be appropriate speaks volumes about the ways she chose to navigate race to get her American dream.

Nikki Haley threw shade tho...she talked about Black cops killed by (thugs) and Black kids killed by violence in the community and Black businesses burned down as a consequence of protests turned rebellion&I could see you guys cheering on a gotcha. It was gross.

The speech assumed WE dont love our own. Clearly not the case. Vigils and community efforts happen all the time.But that speech and others addressed the exceptions w/o addressing any systemics. No backstory.

She spoke of Dylan Roof as if he was an anomaly instead of the most recent& deadliest comeback of a uniquely American scourge ofracially targeted violence&revenge that happens institutionally&individually.If she had been HONEST&offered new solutions we may have had common ground.

But thats not went down. More "We did it but why can't u?" Hey Blacks..take a long hard look at yourselves..if u would just let us send yur kids to Betsy De Vos Charter Academy& they didn't have locs or Afriphonetic names or professed Islam or Ifa& they just accepted their caste.

Being Black without the bullshit is a joy, a sacred thing. We don't need Herschel Walker, Tim Scott or Vernon Jones to appeal to us to make us "listen." Nor Kim nor Diamond&Silk or Candace Blexit Owens...they may appeal to those who want a hustle&connections but not most of us

This convention will go on but it basically spoke to someone I'm not by people who aren't as culturally literate as I am about our own history and culture telling me the problem isn't the culture war nonsense when clearly for every other speaker it definitely was.

You cannot pay me enough to be ok with indignities past present or future. No more dog whistles and condescending patronizing lectures where the only solution is ignore the disease but rub some hydroxyqloriquine on it and it will be fine. You cannot worship idols of hate then

I don't hate this country, I just love it enough to know that Trumpism isn't American. It is what it is.
