As mentioned on a previous tweet I've really been enjoying #DaysGone
What started out as a blind buy because 'bikes and zombies' has turned into something I really enjoy playing and quite enjoy the insurmountable sense of dread.

Now, it's not a perfect game by any stretch of the imagination, some missions are rather tedious, at times the main character comes across as unlikeable and yes, whilst that may be the case to push the narrative of growth and learning to connect more with others...
many actions that he takes, what he says and actions he decides to take across more annoying than anything else and unsympathetic.
But maybe that's the point of it all, a real person with their own issues thrust into a nightmarish situation.

But regardless of that I'm having a fun time playing it, upgrading your bike, traversing a world overrun by hordes of the infected/undead, saving survivor's and growing as a character as well.
As someone who mildly enjoys the gas pedal allure of motorbikes (i neither own nor have any desire to own one, but think they look and sound 'pretty neat') I very much enjoyed traversing this world, repairing, refueling and (at times) crashing....
It made for a really fun experience where the motorbike is not just vehicular transport and becomes a sort of its own character in the game.
Unless that's just me projecting some weirdly deformed personal issues I've amassed over my lifetime....but I digress

-The world is built up in a natural organic way, by which I mean the characters, the narrative threats and the players main goal during this whole mess
-The zombies are at times rather fun to pick off, but then you see a giant horde running after you and you start to have...

Which I feel works to flesh out the challenge and difficultly of living and thriving during this hypothetical scenario.
Really fun and varied combat with later unlocks allowing you to build a four weapon arsenal that appeals to your combat sensibilities..

At first I thought the best tactic would be to go in guns blazing, but over time I found myself leaning more to a stealth angle (despite me always finding this a touch too dull/annoying in certain games).
So overall I'd recommend Days Gone, it's a game I feel has fallen under a great number of people's radar and is really interesting to play through, which moments varying from fun-suspenful-challenging and running away in absolute panic...b
because you stupidly thought that there where only one or two zombies in an area and realised too late that a horde was running right to you.
So yes kinda an impromptu/unasked for review, but nonetheless I'd say check it out

Oh and I forgot to mention
There's a really photo mode as well, which whilst I have barely scratched the service of, I found to be rather complementary to the style of the game as a whole.
Sure, it wasn't needed, but I found myself using it quite a bit.

The mission notifications can also be a little annoying, I've spent many a time in the camp that'll give me a new mission, drive away and then be called up to come to the camp to be given another mission.
Sure, from a gameplay perspective this makes sense....

they want you ride around, explore the vast map, clear up horde nests and other fun stuff and come around to the missions afterwards.
But it's just annoying, getting a mile away from said camp and being called in to do another mission for them.
Not deal breaking but still.

There's a healthy variety to the various side mission's you can do, the previously mentioned clearing of horde nests, clearing areas, saving survivor's and defeating rival camps.
Some are more tied to the story as well, such as stealth missions.
A great way to never get bored.

I kinda wished the game presented you with the ability to customise your characters appearance, not anything next like a character creator, just more as a way to change their clothes and such.
Because as it is the world changes and you just stay the same.
Not a deal breaker

I'm aware that the game provides this option to you in a different game mode via skins, but I feel it would be a great way to connect to the character more, you can customise the bike to your liking but not the driver.
A shame but, as I said, not a deal breaker.

Another quick addition to this thread
Kinda interesting as well the tie ins to other PS media, God of War & Death Stranding Decals for you bike.
Fairly normal studf I know but Days Gone goes that one step further and includes Death Stranding fuels tanks

This is just one of the two featuring that baby thing the main character of death stranding carries
And dw its purely aesthetically (although it does come with cool stats)

I just felt this was a nice little addition to the game, I've never played Death Stranding, it was something on my radar for a little bit but then I forgot about.
But yeah a really cool addition into a cool game and also a reminder for me to pick up #DeathStranding soon.

And heck this is entirely free to anyone who plays it, no dlc thing, it's included just in the base game.
Really fun and I'm just going to head of now and make a note to pickup Death Stranding soon
