In many European nations, the sense of the collective/collective good is very strong.

In contrast, large chunks of the US are individualistic. There's this sense of "personal responsibility" (i.e. I'll solve my problems with my own grit, its your responsibility to solve yours).
That's one reason why universal healthcare coverage will always be a tough sell in the US.

If I had my way, I'd advocate for a Swedish or Swiss style sense of the collective/collective good for Nigeria over American hyper-individualism.
And if we think about this, our culture isn't hyper-individualistic. At the village/town union level we have a strong sense of the collective. We shouldn't abandon it for the American myth of "self made men and women".
