1. Personalise it.

Our streaming, shopping and reading habits are personalised, so our learning experiences should be the same!

Connect people with resources that empower them to reach their goal or match their interests.
2. Make learning manageable.

This is the difference between someone handing you a 600-page book that you need to read and someone just sharing the parts that apply to you.

Instead of the onus being on the learner, they can access what's relevant to them in a manageable format.
3. Ensure it's easy.

It’s not just about the way content’s presented, the system or platform you’re using has to provide a quality user experience.

For a lot of people, that means searching for knowledge or getting content recommendations.
4. Create content in different shapes and sizes.

What type of content will work best for your team? If it's full of visual learners, skew the focus towards video content. If you know everybody enjoys podcasts, think about including them.

Give your people what they want.
5. Get social.

You can take all the courses from all the experts in the world, but sometimes the best resource is sitting just a few desks away.

Tap into external experts and encourage discussions to drive social learning.
6. Relate it to real-life situations.

What could be more relevant than learning that relates to your company or somebody’s role?

Try to incorporate things like product decks, practice scenarios and walk-throughs from your subject matter experts.
7. Make sure it never stops.

This might sound deep, but each time you complete a course or learning pathway, it’s not the end of the learning journey but the start of the next.

By that, we mean not just retaining information but using it as a base for building new knowledge.
8. Give learners flexibility.

Most of us hate being rushed, especially when we're trying to learn something new. Give people the time and flexibility to find resources on-demand and learn when it suits them.
9. Add your own stamp.

Don’t forget to take some brand me-time during this process! The learning experience shouldn’t just be personal to the employee, it should have the company’s culture and brand embedded into it.
