I viscerally hate those weird self-care posts like 'forgive yourself' and 'You deserve love!' because every time I just think of my abuser seeing that shit and being like 'uwu I forgive myself! I'm not a bad person!' My hard take is everyone CAN deserve love but not everyone does
I feel like there's this weird culture online of excusing everything you ever did because somehow it's self-care to do so and like, no? It's good to forgive yourself but baby you have to do the work

(btw this thread is not about mental illness, it's about being a shit)
It's good to acknowledge that sometimes you weren't doing your best. You don't have to always look back on the past like 'I was trying my hardest uwu I could only do so much.' It's OK to be like wow I was Horrendous but I'm doing everything I can now to change and grow
And I KNOW it's not that deep but I just think the audacity of a random internet stranger to try and absolve someone of their sins without knowing Anything about them or what they've done is just really egocentric and weird??? Like what makes you think you have the right?
help, I'm being overly cynical online!
