I wrote a thread about the rush to paint victims of police violence in positive lights to support why their lives matter. Folks will ignore rape and DV convictions, child support defaults, everything...they become parents of the year real quick
But sometimes they are shitty people and we have to acknowledge that. We have to be honest about their violence and mistreatment of women and children. We can have both conversations
And the main one is that folks have the right to focus their support elsewhere when they find out someone who has been shot by police is also a rapist and abuser.

Police shouldn’t be killing unarmed people. Period.

People also don’t have to go up for individuals.
The issue is the system and the policies that rob Black people of their lives. When we focus too much on hashtags and individuals, we lose sight of the larger issue of police brutality
I want us to move past respectability politics when people are killed and stop trying to prove the value of their lives by talking about them being parents or spouses and focus on indicting the system
Because I’m sorry, I can’t focus my energy on celebrating the life of an indiviso who is a stalker, abuser, and rapist just because police killed him.

That may “disappoint” you, but I’m too old for this shit
That all said, I hope Jacob recovers and turns his life around and focused on being a better father and man and that he doesn’t beat or rape anyone else.

That’s all imma say about that.
