HOORAY! It's annual #performancereview time!

Time for the #University to #gaslight you by simultaneously admonishing you for not taking enough time off while expressing disappointment you haven't met an arbitrary quantitative metric across 20 different categories of evaluation.
You will now be admonished paternalistically about how the University takes your mental health seriously & really believes you should take leave and work only 37.5h/wk.

But you should also now take on several new committee chairs, join industry peak bodies, advise government...
Starting a commercially successful startup in your free time is encouraged. But its only viewed the same as joining an industry association .

They're the same right? Starting a company & attracting millions in VC funding to employ dozens, and paying $500 to join APS.
Oh, but make sure that while you're starting a startup on top of your other responsibilities, grants, student mentorship, leadership, outreach and engagement, that you don't work more than 37.5h per week because we care about your well being.

#HR #Gaslighting
#University #performancemanagement is the ultimate hellish three-way marriage of #HR bureaucracy, untrained managers, and faux #data driven processes.

It's the absolute worst way to run an organization. At least I learned what not to replicate.
