The World of Freelancing by Gab Pulido
why make the switch from corporate world to freelancing:

- freedom to grow your skills, network and do your own art thing

- own time <3
how to build your portfolio (for people starting out)

1) know what kind of job you want to do
2) collaborate with others / play on each other's strengths
3) take initiative
4) tell a story
5) upload online (+ don't forget your contact details)
6) your portfolio will always be a work in progress
7) ask for feedback
the challenges of freelancing

- clients: where to get them? how to find them?
- get everything in writing (contracts, deals, arrangements)
- stigma: are you really working??
- get comfortable with money
- work/life balance
QnA portion:

- charge the industry standard since if you start with a low price, it will affect everyone

- ask for the down payment + contract
- look for THE opportunity not just any opportunity
- you get to contribute more in start-ups unlike in big corporations
