what i think is kita shinsuke's philosophy is that he shows appreciation in the little, ordinary things not because of what those things will ultimately lead to but simply because they exist.

for example, he'll say he likes cleaning. but he doesn't do it for the sake of the result of having a clean room or smth but rather he likes the act of it. he's pretty indifferent to the results imo.

what that tells me is that because he cares for the ordinary things, he doesn't put too much weight in what people consider extraordinary, grand, amazing, etc. this nonchalance about societal labels applies to how he sees himself and people as well.

i think kita thinks of himself as "ordinary" and "normal." he thinks he isn't someone who will stand out above the rest and be someone who is idolized or respected. but he doesn't see it as a bad thing. there's nothing wrong about being ordinary.

to apply it more to the world, i feel like many of us aim to be someone special. we want others to think we are significant. we want to do something that matters. we want to create an impact. we want to have a purpose.

but the thing is- why do we have to become that kind of person? will our lives ultimately be meaningless if we don't live up to those expectations?

what kita has perfected is the ability to be satisfied with who he is, "ordinary" label or not. he appreciates everything that he is, even if he doesn't add up into someone that society labels as special or unique. he exists, and that alone is enough.
(lowkey just projected a philosophy i want to adapt onto kita nbd anyway feel free to agree/disagree actually LOL all i did was read a book and it talked abt this and ngl it changed my life)
