If you were teaching a class on The Graphic Novel, what comics would you assign? What about if, for some reason, you couldn’t include Maus, Ghostworld, Fun Home, Jimmy Corrigan, or Watchmen? What books would you pick instead?
I’m not sure what I’d pick! I’d have to decide on the intent of the class. Is it a deliberate history charting the development of the graphic novel? Or am I trying to showcase the diversity of what a graphic novel can be? Or is my aim to try and ignite a passion for comics??
This is hypothetical btw, I’m not teaching a class, haha I’m just curious what people would pick, especially without being able to rely on what I feel have kind of become the standard choices (I’m not saying that’s not for good reason, but there are just so many other comics!)
CanNOT believe no one included the recently released but instant classic Billy Johnson and His Duck Are Explorers
