The first game I ever owned was Pokemon Blue & black Gameboy pocket that was given to me by my aunts friend Yudith who found it on a plane. (she was a flight attendant. I do not know what she is now.) I didn't know how to read English very well yet so I didn't understand much.
I also didn't understand the concept of saving so I restarted the game every single day, played as much as I could, and started again the next day. The Gameboy pocket took two AAA batteries, and they would last for maybe 15 hours tops, so about two days worth of playing.
We were poor and my grandma didn't want to spend money on AAA batteries, let alone the nice name brand ones that had longer battery life. I did not play often, but I loved to play when I did. I don't remember when I learned to save but when I did my world opened up.
I had a similar situation with kingdom hearts. My aunt and uncle who were raising me at the time didn't understand a memory card and didn't want to spend money on one. So for about a year I would get home from school, play the first two hours of kingdom hearts, have to give up-
-the TV to my grandfather, and then have to restart the game the next day. For about 3 months I also had no idea how to get to the 3rd district in traverse town so like the actual Game wasn't even available to me. Today, I know about 70% of the kh1 script by memory.
Sorry I don't know why I tweeted all this I just couldn't stop
Oh yeah it's because I wanted a Gameboy color because the AA batteries were longer lasting
And I saw that thing w the Nintendo switch color. Ohhhh okay I'm figuring it all out now. (Translators note: this means I'm coming down)
