Watching @DrKellermann talk about education as a "collaborative project" and his aim of building a collaboration platform for learning where 500 students work together as a team. #Shifthappens
He uses different channels for each week and he has his lectures, a To Do page, all slides from PowerPoint; Q & A gathered by a bot; Forms for his surveys. There is also the Class Notebook using digital "ink-communication". He draws into a notebook that is co-owned by everyone.
He uses real time data flows using Power Apps to deliver the ability to bring the grades of the student in front of the tutor and gives them a chance to help them out with it straight away. He also uses the Insights into back end to see the trends (& retrain the machine)
He then uses agumented reality to film experiments in 3D and then BRING IN THE AR INTO THE LECTURE THEATRE. This is HYBRID experiences for those who couldn't come to the real-life lecture! (This is pretty amazing).
"Universal Design for Learning/Working" the idea of seamlessly designing an experience for accessibility & inclusivity. He's now showing us how he does this with his students - stepping us through exactly what students go through.
Check this out. He shares the OneNote notebook, his lecture is on the top right and the students can chat in real time. Real time problem solving! (He also uses different camera set ups so that he doesn't have his back to camera when he's writing in the notebook).
He digitised his entire laboratory space at university & transferred it into SharePoint Spaces. He digitised the experimental rig as AR and students can move it around, and click on links that are video resources or support tools. (Pretty amazing - NOTHING like when I was at uni)
Exam time? Well, it's a collaborative experience. There's chat and conversations. No proctoring. He uses machine learning to automate the exams - students scan their diagrams with Office Lens. (pretty amazing stuff).
He's now using LinkedIn Economic Graphs (with MS) which means that his students can identify their CAREER ASPIRATIONS - and match their skills, look at where they want to be (according to successful engineers in LinkedIn) and identify GAPS in what they should do to bridge skills.
This puts CONTINUITY into what you learn at university to what you will need in your jobs. This is truly amazing stuff. All students (regardless of level/skill) have a similar experience and an equal opportunity to education. Thank you @DrKellermann this was BRILLIANT!
"The Learning Management System" is redundant as soon as they leave university instead, we are helping them learn and prepare them for the workforce by using Microsoft Teams. (They are learning a professional skill by using M365)
