Since classes are about to start, let me save someone based on how our professors caught people cheating this spring/summer
1) they see everything if they know the right places to look. My professor literally shared her screen and did a demo of an exam. They can see which question you’re on and how long you’ve been at that question
2) they know when you’ve left the tab, are using split screen, are switching between 2 screens during an exam.
They can view your Canvas activities and know exactly how long you’ve been on canvas on a given day. So if you’re not watching/rewatching those lecture videos but you go to office hours about failing, they see it
If you’re not watching those lecture videos or engaging with the canvas at all but getting As on the exams, they see it
Usually when it’s face to face, they don’t care as much but since it’s virtual, some professors actually take the time to do these things 🙄 and check. These are bare minimum but kids were caught this summer. I got a phone call and I have a MacBook so it went to my computer
During an exam and I literally had to show proof that it was a phone call because canvas marked it as me leaving. Be proactive kids!
Moral of the story, chances are, if you’re on Canvas, they can see it.
