We’re out here in Wisconsin. A few hundred people just began to march. A small number of officers are guarding the courthouse, where a torched truck is parked

More people are arriving at the courthouse, where tensions are high. There’s still a separate group marching nearby.

It’s just past the 8pm curfew:

A person just launched a glass bottle at the line of officers, prompting them to raise their shields. More bottles (glass and plastic) are being thrown

Emergency alert just went through our phones out here for all of Kenosha County.

Curfew is until 7am:

Officers deploying (I think) rubber bullets at the crowd

A local furniture store was just broken into and set on fire in Kenosha. Here’s the moment the fire was lit:

“Keep destroying shit, we’re gonna run all ya’ll motherfuckers down...” this man said after surveying the damage of one of the buildings

He got into a fight with a group of people and later sped off, daring them to come for his business. Said people shouldn’t be destroying their own neighborhoods:

Kenosha, Wisconsin around 11pm. These are not all of the fires:

Cars are also on fire in Kenosha (the one from last night and another across the street)

Earlier, someone was pretty seriously injured. People said glass fell on him as street lights were being taken down

Some residents were harassed by the crowd for protecting a local business (not their own business)

“We’re out here trying to protect residents, we’re trying to protect the innocent people and we’re trying to protect the businesses of the citizens out here...”

Fires are all over the place. A group started to bang on a house, demanding residents come outside.

A group of people are trying to put out one of the car lot fires. The guy I spoke with said the owner was worried the fire would spread to the house next door, so a few of them kicked in the door and have been working for about an hour:

I’m wondering if perhaps the protesters yelling at the house were doing so for this purpose? Not sure.

Officers are warning that the scene has been declared an unlawful assembly

Fire trucks arrived en masse just a little bit ago. Officers shut down streets and people are still out, but a lot more dispersed

There doesn’t seem to be enough fire trucks to put out all the fires at once. Some are still burning and unattended (like one of the car lot fires)

Back up fire trucks are arriving from other counties in the area. It’s almost 12:30am

Officers are still standing guard in front of the courthouse. There are some people out here, but not too many

There are apartments burning about a mile away from the courthouse, according to an officer we just spoke with (on our way to get food). You can see the fires and they are working to put it out.

Unclear if people are inside.

There are multiple buildings burning over there, the officer added (I don’t think they are all apartments. He didn’t specify.)

We’re off the streets for right now. They are working all over town to put out the fires. I’m heading back to the hotel to write (and eat!)
