Levi's Hot Take:

People who fake having DID/OSDD aren't always consciously aware that they are lying. In fact, I would say most "fakers" aren't.

Rather, they are an impressionable teenager with mental illness, likely a poor home life, and have a lack of care and attention. --
They might have friends that have (fake or real!) DID, get involved in DID spaces, read or watch accounts of real systems, and then, well ... Apply those experiences onto their own, even if it isn't accurate.

Not only do they get an "explanation," they get to fit in with --
Those spaces/people, and they get care and attention for claiming to have DID.

They don't really have it, but they have convinced themselves what they are experiencing is DID, when it really isn't.

Most fakers I have seen fully believe they do have DID, but ... They don't. --
Very, very few fakers are 100% lying and consciously aware of it.

Rather, it's a subconscious urge to fit in with their peers (and, of course, a desperate bid to find an answer as to what's wrong with them.)

Notice how most fakers are intensely involved in DID spaces? They --
Frequently blast their DID in non-DID spaces in order to get attention, curiosity, and sympathy?

And yes, not everyone reacts positively to someone having DID, real or not. But that backlash just allows the faker in question to get MORE sympathy from their "in-group."

In my --
Opinion, I feel like they are desperate, attention hungry teenagers who need to feel like they're part of something, part of a group - a "community," if you will - and find DID spaces to be the most accommodating.

Most fakers are the same people that refuse to take advice --
Real people with DID give them, refuse to actually accept and work on their triggers and trauma, and use "DID" as an easy way to get the attention and belonging they crave so much.

Also, they are the type to get the most hostile and upset about "fake claiming." Not always --
Of course. A lot of real systems get vehemently angry about it, for some reason, but in my experience, fakers are the ones who are 100% against even /questioning/ someone's experience with DID.

This isn't a vague post about anyone. It's just my opinion.
